Squarespace Web Design for Sara Epstein Photography | Portfolio Blog, Branding & Instagram Strategy

I designed a unified Squarespace website for London photographer Sara Epstein, combining wedding, portrait, and charity photography into one brand-aligned platform. The build included custom blog layouts, rotating carousels, hover effects, script font integration, and a social media content strategy via Buffer. The result is a storytelling-based portfolio with strong SEO foundations.

INTRO | Web Design, SEO & Instagram Strategy

When London-based photographer Sara Epstein first got in touch, she was managing two separate websites — one for her wedding photography and another for her charity and portrait work. She wanted to unify her online presence into a single, professional Squarespace website that reflected the full breadth of her storytelling-based approach to photography.

We began planning just before I went on maternity leave, and Sara was incredibly thoughtful, collaborative, and clear in her vision from the start. She didn’t just want a site that looked good — she wanted a site that worked as a story-driven portfolio and helped cross-pollinate her different photographic niches.

ABOUT Sara Epstein Photography

Sara Epstein is a London-based photographer with a distinctive documentary style. Her work spans intimate weddings, soulful portraiture, and socially engaged photography through partnerships with charities and educational institutions. At the core of everything she photographs is a deep belief in storytelling — capturing people as they truly are and moments as they unfold.

Her photography is warm, honest, and deeply human — often revealing quiet beauty in the in-between. Whether she’s documenting a couple on their wedding day or photographing a social justice project in schools, Sara brings the same sense of care, composition, and connection.

WHAT Sara NEEDED

Sara came to me with a clear goal: to bring her entire body of work into one unified digital space. She had been running two separate websites — one for weddings, and another for her portrait and charity work — but they no longer served her evolving brand. She needed:

  • A centralised portfolio that invited cross-pollination between her different types of photography

  • A clean, story-led design that felt human and approachable

  • A platform she could update herself with new stories and photos

  • Support with SEO and blog strategy to help her get found online

  • Instagram content planning to keep sharing her work confidently

The final website needed to feel like Sara: warm, professional, and quietly powerful — with room to grow and evolve over time.

WHAT I CREATED

Working from her existing logo and branding elements, I designed and built a fully custom Squarespace site that acts as both portfolio and publication. Her photography spans weddings, portraits, and social impact projects — so I structured the site around curated blog posts that live within three categories:

  • Wedding Stories

  • Sole Stories (portraits & headshots)

  • Social Stories (charity & educational work)

Each project is its own story, and we used Squarespace’s summary blocks filtered by tags to build separate visual pages for each category — giving the site a clean structure without limiting how her work is explored.

I also added a series of custom code features to elevate the user experience, including:

  • Auto-rotating carousels on landing pages

  • Hover interactions that reveal titles on blog images

  • Enhanced layouts for testimonials and client logos

  • Custom font setup to preserve her brand’s character

  • A black-and-white refresh of her original logo

  • Manual script font integration via code blocks

Highlights

  • Squarespace 7.1 website unifying two previous sites

  • Category-driven blog acting as dynamic portfolio

  • Custom hover effects and rotating carousels

  • SEO setup for all pages, including metadata and alt text

  • Custom branding fonts and logo adjustments

  • Instagram strategy with Buffer setup and content plan

Instagram Strategy

To complement her new site, I helped Sara build an Instagram strategy that aligned with her content structure and visual voice. This included:

  • A 15-post content plan organised into Buffer

  • Captions tailored to each type of photography

  • A clear rhythm for storytelling, testimonials, and behind-the-scenes

  • Advice on cross-promoting new blog stories on social media

We also discussed ongoing support options — so she could confidently post without second-guessing what to share.

WHAT Sara SAID

Sarah designed and built a beautiful website for my photography business and I couldn’t be happier! She was amazing from start to finish: creative, patient, and so easy to work with. Within a week of going live, I got a booking through Google! She also helped set up my SEO and Instagram, then handed everything back to me with helpful video tutorials. Thank you, Sarah, I love what you did!

Are you building a brand that needs more than just a template? Let’s create something that reflects your work — and grows with you.

Sarah Foubert

I’m a photographer and Squarespace web designer based in Altrincham, South Manchester. I specialise in portrait, landscape and opera photography and also offer a “complete website package” where I can offer headshots, photos of your business and design your new website so you can manage it yourself afterwards.

Over the years I’ve built a portfolio career as a professional photographer, opera singer, wardrobe assistant and singing teacher. I have a MMus from the RNCM, a Bachelor in Theatre Sciences and Musicology from Ghent University and I’m a qualified teacher. When my son was born in 2021 I quickly realised that an opera career wasn’t as compatible with being a mum as much as I would like, so I decided to change my focus completely to photography and web design.

I prefer working with daylight in casual surroundings while having a chat making sure you’re at ease and relaxed. It’s the little moments in between that make the best shots!

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to work with me!
