Harmony String Quartet

Harmony String Quartet | Squarespace Web Design Case Study

A custom Squarespace website for Harmony String Quartet. Features include a searchable repertoire list, mobile-responsive design, and SEO for wedding musicians Manchester.

INTRO | Web Design & SEO

When Harmony String Quartet got in touch, they were after a website that felt as polished and professional as their music. They already had a Squarespace site, but it wasn’t doing them justice — they needed something more elegant, more intuitive, and more useful during live events. We reworked everything from layout to functionality, and the result is a site that looks beautiful and works hard behind the scenes — including a custom searchable song list that guests can use to request music in real time.

ABOUT HARMONY STRING QUARTET

Based in Manchester, Harmony String Quartet are known for blending classical finesse with modern favourites — performing everything from Mozart to Coldplay with elegance and charm. They perform regularly at weddings, private events, and corporate functions across the UK.

Their goal is to make live music feel special, personal, and unforgettable — with a repertoire that reflects each client’s unique taste.

WHAT HSQ NEEDED

When Harmony String Quartet got in touch, they already had a website in place but felt it didn’t reflect their musicality, experience, or level of professionalism. They wanted:

  • A clean, custom design that felt polished and modern

  • A way for guests to easily search and request music at events

  • Stronger visibility on Google

  • A fully mobile-friendly layout

  • A professional digital home they’d be proud to share with venues, couples, and planners

WHAT I CREATED

The new site was built on their existing Squarespace platform, but completely redesigned from the ground up. From colours to layout to interactivity, everything was tailored to reflect who they are as a group.

Key Features Included:

  • Custom-Coded Searchable Repertoire List

I created a bespoke search tool so guests can easily find songs and request them in real time — a game-changer during live events.

  • Clean, Responsive Layout

The site is stylish, fast, and mobile-friendly — designed to impress both clients and guests on any device.

  • Elegant Branding and Structure

Fonts, spacing, and navigation were refined to reflect their tone: approachable yet polished.

  • SEO Setup

Keywords like “wedding musicians Manchester” and “string quartet for events” were woven throughout the copy, metadata, and alt text to improve search visibility.

  • Blog Strategy

I recommended building a blog to highlight behind-the-scenes stories, event tips, and featured venues — creating fresh, valuable content to support SEO and client trust.

Highlights

  • Squarespace 7.1 website unifying two previous sites

  • Category-driven blog acting as dynamic portfolio

  • Custom hover effects and rotating carousels

  • SEO setup for all pages, including metadata and alt text

  • Custom branding fonts and logo adjustments

  • Instagram strategy with Buffer setup and content plan

Sarah Foubert

I’m a photographer and Squarespace web designer based in Altrincham, South Manchester. I specialise in portrait, landscape and opera photography and also offer a “complete website package” where I can offer headshots, photos of your business and design your new website so you can manage it yourself afterwards.

Over the years I’ve built a portfolio career as a professional photographer, opera singer, wardrobe assistant and singing teacher. I have a MMus from the RNCM, a Bachelor in Theatre Sciences and Musicology from Ghent University and I’m a qualified teacher. When my son was born in 2021 I quickly realised that an opera career wasn’t as compatible with being a mum as much as I would like, so I decided to change my focus completely to photography and web design.

I prefer working with daylight in casual surroundings while having a chat making sure you’re at ease and relaxed. It’s the little moments in between that make the best shots!

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to work with me!
