Headshots for Musicians: Sheona White Portrait Session

Relaxed, Natural Headshots for Musicians at Home

One of the things I love most about working with musicians is how expressive, intentional, and open they often are in front of the lens. If you’re looking for headshots for musicians that feel relaxed, natural, and truly you, this session with Sheona White is a perfect example.

Sheona—often described as “The Voice of the Tenor Horn”—is an internationally celebrated performer with a career spanning Europe, Asia, Australasia, and the USA. I first met her a couple of years ago and was absolutely delighted when she reached out to see if I could take some new photographs for her upcoming album and online presence.

For the shoot, we worked in the comfort of Sheona’s beautiful home near Bolton. The space was full of natural light thanks to large windows—ideal for creating warm, atmospheric portraits without needing a traditional studio setup. I brought along my trusty Manfrotto EzyFrame and vintage pewter background, which allowed me to set up a mini studio right there in her living room.

Shooting musician portraits at home often results in much more relaxed imagery. The environment feels familiar and comfortable, and it really helps put people at ease. Sheona arrived with her makeup already done and a brilliant selection of outfits to choose from. We created a mix of photographs: headshots for her website and promotional images for her new album.

Some of the photos featured her tenor horn; others didn’t—giving her a variety of looks that reflect both her artistry and her individuality. The results? A beautiful balance of elegance, confidence, and personality.

If you’re a musician looking for fresh images—whether for album artwork, press kits, website updates, or simply a set of headshots that feel more like you—I’d love to help you create something special.

You can contact me to book in your session your session. I’ll come to you with my mobile setup so we can shoot in a space where you feel most comfortable—whether that’s your home, studio, or favourite location.

Let’s tell your story through portraits that feel honest, professional, and fully you.

I’m a photographer and Squarespace web designer based in Altrincham, South Manchester. I specialise in portrait, landscape and opera photography and also offer a “complete website package” where I can offer headshots, photos of your business and design your new website so you can manage it yourself afterwards.

Over the years I’ve built a portfolio career as a professional photographer, opera singer, wardrobe assistant and singing teacher. I have a MMus from the RNCM, a Bachelor in Theatre Sciences and Musicology from Ghent University and I’m a qualified teacher. When my son was born in 2021 I quickly realised that an opera career wasn’t as compatible with being a mum as much as I would like, so I decided to change my focus completely to photography and web design.

I prefer working with daylight in casual surroundings while having a chat making sure you’re at ease and relaxed. It’s the little moments in between that make the best shots!
