Frederic Jost will return to Oper Frankfurt to sing First Handwerksbursche in Christof Loy’s staging of Berg’s Wozzeck in 2019. He made his debut in Frankfurt singing Ordulfo Trojahn‘s Enric in 2018. During the summer of 2018, he made his debut at the Bregenz Festival. Frederic Jost’s operatic repertoire stretches from early music via classical bass parts up to contemporary compositions. In 2016, he has sung the main part Richard Boll in Joseph Weigl’s Die Schweizer Familie at Davos Festival. In May 2019, he will sing a Coryphée in a new production of Gluck’s Alceste at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
In 2017, the bass performed Assan in Menotti’s The Consul at Bayerische Staatsoper, accompanied by Münchener Kammerorchester. During the Munich Opera Festival 2016, the young bass created the part of `Achills tiefer Schatten´ in Hauke Berheide’s world premiere Mauerschau, in 2015 he performed the main bass part in Magal’s Jephta’s Daughter. In 2014, Frederic Jost made his debut at Bayerische Staatsoper, singing Zweiter Hauptmann in Zimmermann‘s Die Soldaten under the baton of Kirill Petrenko.
In 2014, Frederic Jost has sung Pilatus in Bach‘s St. John’s Passion under the baton of Hans-Jörg Albrecht. Since, he has sung Jesus in Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion, Beethoven’s Symphony N° 9, Handel’s The Messiah, Haydn’s Salve Regina, Mozart’s Requiem and Vesperae solemnis, Schumann’s Szenen aus Goethe’s Faust. Frederic Jost performed a lied recital, accompanied by Donald Sulzen, at the festival Fränkische Musiktage in Alzenau in 2015.
Frederic Jost has sung – as soloist of the Tölzer Knabenchor – under the baton of Claudio Abbade, Ivor Bolton, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Mariss Jansons and Sir Simon Rattle. As a bass, he has worked with producers including Andreas Kriegenburg and conductors including Hans-Jörg Albrecht, Marcus Bosch, Oksana Lyniv, Kent Nagano and Kirill Petrenko.
